On April 30th, the House State Affairs Committee held hearings on various proposed bills. One of the bills heard was Representative Wes Virdell’s HB 1378, which requires a BESS facility to have a 500-yard setback from adjacent property lines. Commissioner McCall and Commissioner Paces were both present to testify in support of his bill. A copy of Commissioner Paces’ statement is provided below. Unfortunately, speakers were only allowed 2 minutes to speak before they were cut off. Commissioner Paces didn’t get even halfway through his statement; however, copies were provided to the 15-member committee. Let’s hope that they take the time to read it.
